Lowcountry Inspired
Robby and I met in Charleston, South Carolina. It is an amazing, charming and beautiful city. We were young and impressionable, and Charleston definitely made a lasting impression on us.
Looking back, we realize that we got our hospitality “roots” in Charleston. Yes, we were in college, culinary school to be specific, but we learned so much more than cooking while in Charleston. Robby and I both had jobs in food service while in college. We cooked, served, and catered to hundreds (thousands) of people. Following the direction of good chefs and mangers, we each learned how to provide top service to all our guests. Hospitality was built into everything we did both in and out of school and work. That’s just the way of life in Charleston, the hospitality capital of the south.
We love Charleston. We were recently looking at some old cookbooks we received while we were in college and we couldn’t help but smile and get hungry. How could we go so long without eating Carolina Red Rice or She Crab Soup? It has been way too long since we were at a oyster roast or pig pickin’. We wish we could cook all our favorite lowcountry foods for you at our June dinners, but you would be here all weekend. So we will have to cook our most favorite ones. We hope you enjoy these as much as we do. We are excited to share them with you.
Cheers!
